6. What to do when you do find termites.
Don’t
Panic…. The termites have been there for a few months now, a few
extra days or week will not make much difference to the amount of damage
or the cost of treatment. You can breathe again now. You are about to
embark of a steep learning curve if want to make an informed decision
about how to handle your termite problem going forward.
Don't
disturb termites…It is critical that the nest infesting your
building is eradicated. This usually requires the termites to be
actively feeding in the house so they can carry a treatment back into
the heart of the nest and destroy the whole colony.
Get at least
three written quotes from termite specialists companies…To begin
with, the more termite treatment salesmen you talk to the more confused
you will become, this is
normal. Over time the more people you talk to the more you will be able
to sort the “wheat from the chaff”.
Don’t feel
pressured into making a quick decision…. Horror stories abound about
termites and the damage they can do. Unethical termite treatment
salesmen know you are worried and they know all the hot buttons to push
to get your signature on the dotted line fast.
